Messages to our Foundation

I just want to officially thank you for your help with my best friend and wife's recent mammogram (it was her first one) and follow-up tests. We currently don't have health insurance so we REALLY appreciate your help. Everyone at Maui Memorial has been very kind to us, especially U'i. Thank you for everything you're doing to make a positive difference on Maui ... we're very grateful.
-- Scott Miles, Kihei (2009)

"I wanted to take the time to thank the wonderful staff that took such excellent care of me. This was my first surgery, and hopefully my last, but I must say it was quite a wonderful experience. From the very beginning in meeting the staff, the valet service that was provided, the surgical team under my doctor, Scott Newman, and the fabulous after care nurses and aides. I wanted to make special mention of my nurses, Debbie Lum Ho, Jasmine and Bill. As well as the aides, Espe, Nelly, Adam and Alice. And the lab tech, Chad. I am sorry I wasn't able to get everyone's name because there were so many others that were a blessing to me, but these that I have mentioned went out of their way in my opinion to make my stay at the hospital as comfortable as possible. I felt safe, secure and well cared for. From the warm care and concern from dedicated and kind nurses like Debbie, to the pleasant and cheerful manner of aides like Adam. How wonderul to have such beautiful people there for you in your time of need. God-Bless you all my new friends. I thank God for all of you!

"I just attended an Advanced Medical/Surgical Nursing Course. The speaker Carol Ruen, RN delivered a great class with lots of information which was easy to understand and related as a nurse. She also had a great sense of humor! Mahalo to the Foundation for making this happen."
-- Flora Ramos-Wildman, RN (2008)

"The Krames on Demand is a reliable website that provides easily accessible resources for the nurses to educate their patients. Routinely used for pain management patients, the handouts gives much needed information regarding the management of their pain medications at home. This is a valuable and much needed service. We appreciate the Foundation for its continued support to fund this valuable, patient care related program."
-- Janelle Todd, RN, BN Palliative Care- Pain Management, Oncology Department (2007)

"The Krames teaching materials are used on a daily basis in Haleakala South. The material is written and illustrated in a easy-to-understand format that really works wonderfully to aid the staff in educating their patients. Having this information readily available allows us to provide appropriate educational material for our patients 24/7. I hope we will continue to have access to this very valuable teaching tool."
-- Linda Hill, R.N. Nurse Manager, Haleakala South (2007)

"Thank you to the foundation for your generous support of the wound care conference on September 9-10, featuring Dr. Harriett Baugh Loehne, PT, DPT, CWS, FCCWS. Over 107 healthcare professionals attended contributing to the event's success!"
-- Vicki Schuffit, PT, CWS (2006)

"Mahalo Foundation for the six golf carts for our Security Department. This will allow us to more effectively perimeter patrol and assist in an expedient response to priority calls."
-- Capt. Richard Bista, MMMC Security Director (2006)

"Mahalo for the Foundation's support in obtaining the EKOS catheter system. Maui Memorial is honored to be the second hospital in the nation to provide this technology which dissolves clots that cause strokes. Lives have already been saved!"
-- David Russell, MMMC RN, BS, BSN (2006)
